01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Step past the noren curtain at midday, and you will find an approachable lunch lineup pairing nigiri or chirashi bowls with noodles. Lunch Set A bundles 6 pieces of nigiri and 2 pieces of rolled sushi with hot or cold soba or udon, rounded out generously with chikuwa tempura. Between substantial bowls of scattered sashimi chirashi-don and combinations such as negitoro and grated yam donburi, there is plenty of room to match your appetite.

House-Speciality Horse Mackerel and Izakaya Bites

Another highlight at Choku Sushi is the dedicated menu section for aji (horse mackerel). Prepared in diverse styles, it ranges from sashimi and finely chopped tataki to herb-flecked namero, whole deep-fried fish, and crisp panko-breaded aji fry. On select days, the catch even includes horse mackerel reeled in by the owner.

In the evening, the restaurant doubles comfortably as an izakaya, ideal for lingering over sashimi platters, simmered sea bream collar, and affordable small plates. Sipping draft beer,バイス (baisu) sours, or sushi-bar-style gari chuhai pickled-ginger highballs alongside casual rolls like chikuwa tempura or negitoro makes for an easygoing visit.

The dining room features counter and table seating alongside tatami mat seating tucked into the back, welcoming solo diners dropping in for a casual bite as readily as families out for dinner.
